Getting married in the Pustertal.
A wide, green valley, place by place.
Bruneck, Toblach, Niederdorf, Prags, Olang, Gsies. Churches, farms and alpine meadows we know from earlier weddings.
The valley, place by place
Bruneck is the largest town in the valley, with an old town and a castle above the rooftops. From there the Pustertal runs through Olang, Niederdorf, Toblach and Innichen to the border with East Tyrol. Side valleys such as Gsies are quieter again than the main valley. Olang sits at the foot of the Kronplatz, Prags a little off the main road, with the Pragser Wildsee, a lake many people know from a photo before they ever see it.
In between is what a wedding here needs: small churches in the middle of the village, old farmhouses of wood and stone on the slopes, and above them the alpine meadows, still mown in summer. Our studio is in the Ahrntal, just around the corner. Where exactly you marry tells us a lot about how the day will look. It is the first thing we ask.
Bruneck, Olang, Welsberg, Niederdorf and Toblach are all on the Pustertal railway line, which helps if guests arrive without a car or you want to come by train yourselves.
Church, farm, alp
The village churches in the Pustertal are small and stand in the middle of the village: short distances for your guests, and the first pictures right outside the door after the ceremony. Many couples then celebrate on a farm, in a barn, a threshing floor, sometimes a hall looking out over the meadows. On other days the farm is a working one, with cows or guests; for you it gets cleared out once, with everything that comes with it: the smell of hay, old beams, a view of its own stable.
For the pictures we often go further up, to an alpine meadow or an open pasture above the valley floor. Some are a quarter of an hour away, others take a longer walk. That calls for sturdy shoes under the dress and a second place in case fog or rain gets in the way. In return you have forest, meadow and mountains to yourselves for a while.
Photos and film, one day
Book both together and two of us come. We have worked together for years and do not need to confer in the middle of the ceremony. In the Pustertal the distances between church and farm are short, and that time goes into the pictures instead of moving gear.

Where we work
Good to know
It depends on where you are headed. From Toblach or Niederdorf you are about half an hour from the first well-known views of the Dolomites, towards the Tre Cime for example. From Olang, the Furkelpass takes you into the Gadertal. For the day itself that means you can marry in the Dolomites and stay in the Pustertal, or the other way round.
Earlier than in the side valleys. Around Bruneck, Olang or Niederdorf the meadows are often green from mid-May and in full flower by June. If flowering meadows matter to you, early summer is the safe time.
It varies. Some alps are only run on a few weekends, others all summer, and some are private land where you need the owner's permission. If you have a particular alp in mind, ask there directly and early. For the pictures alone there is nothing to book. You need sturdy shoes and a second place in case the weather does not play along.
